Brief History

Originally from Manchester I studied Ceramics and Three Dimensional Design before moving to Devon over 20 years ago to teach ceramics at Plymouth College of Art. I continued to produce work in my small studio at home.

Since leaving my teaching post I have been able to devote all my time and energy to  my work.   Having had a passion for objects for so many years, rediscovering drawing them has been a revelation and  has taken me in a new direction.

All the qualities of form, surface and sculptural presence are being expressed in a different way through intense observation.

In my drawing, printmaking and ceramics I can see the re occurance of certain images, forms and colour.

Although the forms I make are abstract and the drawings representational they both have similar elements of light contrast,  form and surface, and the round versus the angular in composition
