My involvement with the ceramic process has led me to take a nostalgic look at the form, lustre and decoration of a range of different ceramic items from different eras.
The translucency of china is remeniscent of the delicate qualities of shell and the composition has similarities. Ceramics are the closest to nature of any man made objects, from the stone or shell like quality of fired clay itself to the glazed, sometimes pearlised or gilded surfaces.
